The Poster on the Wall

The fuzzy feeling..being enveloped in total darkness.. the subconscious slowly gives way.. your eyes snap open. A new day, a new beginning.. your gaze turns to the poster on the wall nearby.. blurry yet you have read the words countless times over.. Today is going to be a great day etc. etc. Say these words before you begin your day. What troubles me though is... why the false sense of security? A poster full of optimism, kind words, a blanket of comfort if you will. Better still could be your morning horoscope - 'Your meticulous and careful planning will result in recognition and reward at office. Romantic relationships will be stable.... blah blah'. Turns out you fumbled at work, earned a mouthful from your boss and you come home to an upset wife(for reasons not known),leading to heated arguments and a stunned silence..

As you return to the only so-called friend in the world- your mattress.. and crawl in to catch some sleep, you slowly extend your shoulders to turn off the table lamp and your gaze falls on that poster.. the same one... enthusing each day as you read the "timeless words". Anger fills your veins.. "Pahh..!!! Talk about a positive day..."Colourful(read explicit) words fill your head as you slowly fall asleep... The poster remains.. a mute witness.. trouble is, it never told you which day would turn out to be a positive or when that day would be.. Such is the vicissitude of the journey of Life.. and a poster does what it is supposed to - Inspire.. all and sundry.. for those who believe in Destiny and the ones who want to forge it with their own will..
